Former Justice and Constitutional Affairs Minister, Eugene Wamalwa, on
Saturday revealed that the defunct Grand Coalition Government recruited
hundreds of Somali youths to train in Kenya with KDF and later fight Al
Shabaab.
Speaking during the burial
of Mama Mary Ezra Khavulani at Milima in Tongaren Sub County, Bungoma
County, Wamalwa said the Government of former President Mwai Kibaki
and former Prime Minister, Raila Odinga, recruited Somali youths to fight Al
Shabaab and they have since disappeared.
Wamalwa said in the wake of April 2
Garissa University attacks, we need to know “the whereabouts of hundreds of
Kenyan Somali Youth from Isiolo, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa and Eastleigh trained
at Manyani.”
“How many were recruited, trained and
sent to Somalia to infiltrate Al Shabaab?” said Wamalwa who is also the former
Saboti MP.
“We need to know where they are today
and know whether they have gone to bed with the enemy,” Wamalwa said.
The former Minister asked if four
terrorists can slaughter hundreds of students in one day what about 4,000
recruits who were trained in Manyani.
Wamalwa urged the National Assembly
to follow up the details of the youth who might be the ones carrying out the attacks
on Kenyan soil
