Tension was high in Kisumu City on Tuesday evening after Kiambu
Governor, William Kabogo, threatened to beat Kakamega Senator, Boni Khalwale,
for calling him a thief of public resources.
The incident which happened during
the Second Annual Devolution Conference in Kisumu forced Kabogo to confront Khalwale
in front of 6,000 delegates who attended the event.
Khalwale accused Kabogo of declining
to appear before the Senate to answer to financial impropriety allegations.
“There are millions of shillings
allegedly misappropriated under your leadership which you have declined to
account for,” Khalwale said.
Khalwale also took issue with Governors
who had been mentioned in the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) list
of shame.
The fiery lawmaker said all those
mentioned in the list should follow the President‘s order to step aside.
“It is good to step aside for a few
days and come back after investigations are concluded. What is so hard?”
Khalwale said.
But Kabogo who was infuriated by Khalwale's
remarks asked the Senator to watch his big mouth and stop painting Governors as
corrupt and those who violate the constitution.
