The initiative was aimed at getting people to ask questions about the care of orcas, but backfired this week.
Animals rights organisation PETA was one of the first to jump on the hashtag, asking why SeaWorld is still open and questioning their treatment of their orcas.
Animal Rights News asked how kidnapping baby orcas was part of an animal care programme.
Elisa Allen, Associate Director of PETA, commended people for questioning the company.
"Caring people everywhere jumped at the opportunity to ask the 'abusement park' why it continues to imprison orcas in tiny chlorinated tanks, forcing them to perform ridiculous tricks for food," she told MailOnline Travel.
