Barely two weeks after four Al Shabaab terrorists ambushed Garissa
University and massacred 147 students in cold blood before they were killed by
GSU’s elite Recce Squad, the ethnicity of all the four terrorists has been
established.
According to detectives investigating
the attack, all the four terrorists were Kenyans from Mandera, Bungoma and
Mombasa Counties.
Apart from Mohammed Abdirahim, a
Nairobi University law graduate who led the attack on Garissa University, the
other three were not Somalis as one would expect, but local people from Moses
Wetangula's Bungoma County and Omar Hassan's Mombasa, who were brainwashed
and radicalized to join Al Shabaab.
Speaking yesterday, detectives from
Mombasa and Bungoma noted that they were working to indentify the families of
the three local terrorists but until today they have not been able to.
It is not clear what the Government
intends to do to the families of the Al Shabaab terrorists once it identifies
them but one thing is clear - things will never be the same again.
This comes just a day the Government
gave a blanket amnesty to Kenyans who joined Al Shabaab to surrender within 10
days of face the full weight of the Government descending on them.
It also comes at a time when President
Uhuru Kenyatta asked Kenyans to take charge of their own security saying
terrorists live among us.
