The Citizen Weekly newspaper has released a list of
prominent Kenyans who are gays and lesbians and have been doing their uncouth
behavior in the dark.
According to the weekly newspaper,
the Judiciary, Parliament and the Senate are among places where gays and
lesbians take refuge and they have been hiding there for years.
The paper also says the media
industry has seen an influx of gays and lesbians in recent years and more than
10 percent of Kenyans who work in the media industry are either gays or
lesbians.
Here is a list of gays and lesbians
according to the weekly newspaper.
1. Prof Makau Mutua- He is a Kenyan
professor of law based in America. He is the fiercest defender of the aberration
in Kenya. He is also a former Dean of Law at Buffalo Law School New York.
2. Maina Kageni - He is a radio presenter
in Classic 105.
3. Jeff Koinange - He is a journalist at KTN.
He brings Jeff Koinange Live (JKL)
4. John Githongo - He is an ex-Governance
PS in former President Mwai Kibaki’s Government. He currently runs a Non Government
Organization known as Inuka Kenya.
5. Jimmy Gait - He is a gospel musician
from Central Kenya.
6. George Njerii and Caleb Idris - They
were arrested in Kwale County by the police for practing unnatural acts. They
later claimed that they were a married couple. Despite their defence, the two
were charged at Kwale Law courts with ‘engaging in unnatural acts’.
7. Dagoretti North MP, Dennis Waweru
8. A senior Judiciary member.
9. Dennis Nzioka - He is a known gay
rights activist.
10. Eric Gitari - Gitari is the Executive
Director of the National Gays and Lesbians Human Rights Commission, Kenya.
11. Binyavanga Wainaina - He is a
renowned writer and academician. He wrote a memoir titled One Day I
Will Write about This Place, published in 2011. Late last year, Wainana
said he is a gay.
12. Raj Devani - He is a Nairobi based
businessman and is alleged to finance gay activities in Nairobi.
13. Pauline Kimani - She declared last
week that she is a lesbian. Pauline alleged that she found out that she was a
lesbian early in life, after developing a schoolgirl crush on her sports
teacher.
14. David Kuria - He is also
popularly known as the gay Senator. He ran for the position of Senator in 2013,
in Kiambu County. Kuria was the co-founder and General Manager of the Gay and
Lesbian Coalition of Kenya.
15. Joji Baro - He has been gay all his
life and has openly posted his pictures in his Facebook page.
