The National Muslim Leaders Forum (NMLF) has absolved Islam from
frequent terror attacks on Kenyan soil.
Speaking during a debate on Citizen TV’s
Cheche Show, Sheikh Abdullahi Abdi,
who is also the chair of the NMLF, asked Kenyans to stop blaming Muslims or
Islam for the terror attack in Garissa University where 147 students were
senselessly butchered by merciless Al Shabaab terrorists.
The good Sheikh noted that contrary to
the perception of people, Islam means peace and does not condone killing of innocent
people like what was witnessed at the university.
He said that the so called Al Shabaab
terrorists do not in any way represent Islam and are not Muslims as they always
claim.
On the other hand, Sheikh Abdullahi
told Kenyans to blame the Government of President Uhuru Kenyatta and his
Deputy, William Ruto, for failing to act on Intel given to the police by
locals.
He challenged the Government to change
its view of Kenyans of Somali origin and stop treating them like terrorists
even if they just want to help.
“The security machinery should trust
Kenyans, especially those of Somali origin. If we report that our children are
lost or radicalized, we get arrested instead and then you blame us after the
attacks. This is unfair,” said Abdi.
