The youth have been advised to emulate Mr Museveni’s devotion
during his liberation struggles in the 1970s and 80s where he rejected
handouts from the then leaders and opted to fight for democracy in the
country.
Kitanga Parish Priest Geatano Batanyenda made the
appeal last week while addressing hundreds of youth from Kisoro, Kabale,
Kanungu and Rukungiri districts at Kirigme Guest house in Kabale town
during the dialogue on the oil and gas benefits to Ugandans.
He said if Mr Museveni accepted handouts then
and was compromised by the presidents during his youthful days, he would
not be the leader of the country today.
“The youth of Uganda must reject bribes that
regularly come in brown envelops from leaders compromising them so that
they can sustain them in power.
