Emmanuel Okwi scored his first ever hat-trick in the Mainland premier
soccer league when Simba handed visiting Mgambo JKT of Tanga a four
goal comprehensive demolition midway into the second half at the
National Stadium in Dares Salaam yesterday.
Okwi was on target to open the floodgates barely nine minutes after
the kick off when he made full use of Kessy Ramadhani’s timely pass.
Four minutes later Ramadhani Singano’s power-packed free kick
sailed into the yawning net leaving goalkeeper Godson Mmasa flat footed
as Simba notches the second goal of the day.
Mgambo striker Fullzoo Maganga had his goal disallowed by referee
as linesman Josephat Masija had earlier raised his flag for an offside.
Maganga had made use of Malimi Busungu tailor-made cross.
Mgambo replaced Abuu Daudi Bashiru Chanache after 31minutes to strengthen its striking force
Okwi scored past goalkeeper Mmasa four minutes to half time mark
when he tormented a thickset of Mgambo defenders before releasing a
blockbuster that sailed into the net as Simba celebrated the rout.
Simba were leading by three goals up to the half time in a lowly attended match.
Beautiful exchanges between Kessy, Ibrahim Ajibu and Okwi enabled
the Ugandan to wrap up his hat-trick for the day as he celebrated the
tenth goal of the season and the fourth for Simba.
Okwi has joined other premiership scorers in the likes of Amissi
Tambwe (Yanga), Didier Kavumbagu (Azam FC) and Rashid Mandawa (Kagera
Sugar) to stay just four goals behind leading scorer who happens to be
Yanga’s Simon Msuva.
