Barely three days after the Anti-Terror Police Unit arrested an alleged
Al Shabaab suspect who had sneaked into President Uhuru Kenyatta’s home in
Gatundu, the truth about the man in question and his mission at the President’s
residence has come out leaving a rotten egg on the face of Kenya’s security
agents.
According to the brother of one Mr.
Said Mire Siyad, the ‘Al Shabaab’ suspect that was arrested is not a terrorist
as police have claimed.
The brother, Ahmed Mire, said Mr. Siyad
is mentally deficient and has been sick since 2004.
He said his brother has been visiting
Mathari Mental Hospital for treatment for a very long time and that he gets mad
sometimes.
He noted that his brother had travelled
from Garissa to Nairobi and was to go to Mathari for medication but went
missing on Tuesday only for them to be told that he had been arrested by ATPU
on allegations that he is a terrorist.
“He travelled from Garissa to Nairobi
and was to go to Mathari for medicine. We were shocked to get a call from
police saying our brother had been arrested over terror claims,” said Mire.
Siyad was arrested on Tuesday by
ATPU after trespassing on Uhuru’s property demanding to talk to Mama Ngina or
President Uhuru Kenyatta himself.
